Weekly Update: 2.15.25
Winter hung heavy over us this week. It felt colder than it has been for awhile, with winter slipping its fingers beneath the doors and wrapping itself around our ankles. Icy snow fell Tuesday, encrusting the world in a white blanket that crunched beneath our feet every time we went outside. It finally began to melt yesterday, but more is supposed to fall tonight. As much as we are all longing for spring, the Ozarks still lie securely in winter's grip.
We started the week off with a Superbowl party. It felt like such a treat to settle into our living room, plates of snacks in hand, to watch our favorite football team try for their third Superbowl win in a row. With every other Chiefs fan, we were sadly disappointed with how the game turned out. Still, we had fun together. And we enjoyed our entertainment center the rest of the week, showing the kids some of our favorite history movies for homeschooling.

After so many late nights finishing our living room, we found ourselves moving a littler slower in the bunkhouse this week. Still, we made quite a bit of progress in several areas. Grace and Levi put up a lot of siding in our back door entry. One day, it was too wet outside to cut outdoors, so Grace had to cram into our pantry area -- that was interesting. I treated the interior siding in our half-bath with Eco Wood Treatment, protecting the siding and giving it a lovely silver patina. Levi milled tons of interior siding one day, getting us stocked up for the next couple weeks. I worked on plans for our kitchen storage.

Over the last couple days, we all enjoyed some Valentine's Day festivity. Jeremiah sponsored his second Festival of Hearts, which included an international candy tasting game, dalgona candy carving contest, and a TMI Trivia bee. Several of us exchanged festive gifts. We sisters made the family some of our great-great-grandma's teacakes.

One afternoon this week, I sketched out a rough timeline for getting our bunkhouse move-in ready. If things go smoothly, we should be settled inside before our two-year anniversary in April. If we have learned anything out here, it is that things rarely go according to plan. That being the case, we are holding our timeline loosely. Still, it's exciting to see the final stages of our project sketched out on a calendar. It's going to be an exciting few months.
