Photo Friday: Episode 18

I'm posting this week's Photo Friday from my bed, where I have spent most of the last couple of days. One rainy Wednesday morning, I descended our porch stairs, arms full of breakfast ingredients. One or two slippery steps later, I was lying nearly flat with my back against the steps. I somehow managed to save all but a couple of the eggs I had been carrying, but my back took a little more damage. So instead of working on the house or exploring the homestead in search of critters, I've been sitting in bed, working on photo editing and resting my pulled muscles. I am so glad that I took a few photos earlier this week! My nieces never tire of bringing me slightly traumatized looking members of the amphibian and reptile family to photograph.

Eilliey Mae captured five very pliable young American Bullfrogs, but these three were the most photogenic.

Chloe brought me this adorable little Brown Skink.

A Bold Jumping Spider hung in front of our door. The grasshopper it devoured was actually infected with a horsehair worm, which you can see evacuating the grasshopper's body.

The horsehair worm attempts to retreat into the grass after exiting the grasshopper.
